One of the perks of living in Staten Island, NY, is the wide range of summer activities and events held in the borough. We’ll be heading to these four destinations to make the most of the warm weather before the leaves begin to change colors.

1. Open Village at Historic Richmond Town

Observe living history programs and demonstrations as well as admission to the historic museum, all for one affordable ticket price. Historic Richmond Town features historical interpreters in authentic costumes illustrating life in Staten Island in the 1770s, 1820s, and 1860s. You can learn about domestic life, fashion, trades, politics, and other aspects of those eras for a fascinating day.

Open Village at Historic Richmond Town is held Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 for ages 12 and over, $5 for kids ages 6 to 11, and free for younger children and members. You can also visit on Thursdays for free admission! It’s located at 441 Clarke Ave.

2. Summer Nights Vendor Market

Shop for handmade items, food, beverages, and unique products at the Empire Outlets Summer Nights Vendor Market. This free, family-friendly event will also feature live music, artists, demonstrations, and performances. It’s hosted by the Created for You Artists Market.

The Summer Nights Vendor Market will be held outdoors at the outlets on July 7 from 3 to 8 p.m. It’s located at 55 Richmond Terr next to the Ferry Hawks stadium and the ferry.

3. Maker Park Radio’s 6-Year Anniversary Music and Art Fest

Celebrate the birthday of Maker Park Radio with live music from Geese, Kevin Devine, GIFT, Thus Love, Vega Maestro, and special surprise guests. The festival will also feature vendors selling art and handmade items, food trucks, and more. It’s planned for Saturday, July 8 from 6 to 10 p.m.

Tickets to this family-friendly, dog-friendly event are $18.07 for ages 11 and older and free for younger kids. The festival will take place at 450 Front St.

4. Snug Harbor Art and Architecture Tour

At this Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden event, you can learn more about the iconic Greek revival architecture and art of this part of Staten Island. The tour covers 28 historic buildings starting in 1833 and also visits the Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art.
