Recently, Dodge ran into a little problem that caused a few questions about existing orders for the 2021 Durango SRT Hellcats. So, your friends at Island CDJR wanted to give our visitors the latest update:
?
You see, once Dodge announced that it planned to build a limited run of only two-thousand Durango HRTs, they found that more than 2000 people were interested in owning one of these unique and powerful SUVs. Equipped with 710hp, this high-performance ride goes from 0 mph to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds.
Once the initial offering sold out in only 3 months, dealers still had more demand. But that wasn’t the only issue. The production line which was used to build the Durango HRT is now dedicated to begin manufacturing the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
On top of that, new regulations concerning emissions that begin for the 2022 model year will prevent any more from being produced after 2021. However, regardless of the obstacles facing them, Dodge was determined to make sure that it could meet consumer expectations.
By moving some of the 6.2-liter Hellcat engines from other vehicles (which will still be allowed to produce them beyond 2022), Dodge will be able to fill the remaining orders for the 2021 Durango HRT.
Anytime a limited-production car, truck, or SUV is launched, there is always the potential of leaving some dealers or customers unhappy if the demand turns out to be greater than supply, which is what happened in this case. But with this contingency plan already underway, there will still be a few 2021 Durango HRTs produced in the 2022 model year.
